Celebrating the life of

Frank P. Lee

September 02, 1941 - March 03, 2012

Frank P. Lee

Frank Perdue Lee, 70, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 3, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. His parents, William and Mary Frances Lee, preceded him in death.

Frank was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and grew up in Jacksonville Beach, Florida where he was a lifeguard with the American Red Cross Life Savings Corp. He had lived in Savannah, Georgia since 1975. Frank received a BS in Education from Florida State University, and began a teaching career in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1966, he became a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, where he went from being "the revenuer" chasing bootleggers and sitting on liquor stills to an expert on arson and explosives. When he concluded his career with ATF, he was the lead agent on the mail bombing case in Savannah, and its successful prosecution. After 27 years of federal service, he started his own business investigating fire scenes and also returned to teaching. He was an instructor at FLETC, and worked for SAIC teaching first responders to investigate bombings for the past 15 years. He had a passion for his job, his associations with those he worked with, and met all challenges that came his way.

Frank was a member of St. John's Church in Savannah and formerly St. Francis
of the Islands Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry and as Senior Warden.

Frank is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pamela, his daughter Lauree Watkins Trace, and son William Lee Monique and four "perfect" granddaughters, Mallory and Morgan Watkins, and Lindsay and Lauren Lee. He also leaves brothers Jonathan, Michael, and sister Susan, their spouses, several nieces and nephews, his mother-in- law Edith Hanvey and brother-in-law Robert Hanvey.

Visitation will be held at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel on Friday, March 9th from 5:00pm until 7:00 p.m.
A Christian burial service will be conducted at St. John's Church in Savannah on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at 11:00 am. Burial will be private
.
Remembrances may be sent to St. John's Church, St. Francis of the Islands Episcopal Church, The American Cancer Society or The American Red Cross.

The family would like to thank the devoted staff of doctors and nurses for their excellent care particularly Doctors Yannucci, Thompson, Hunter, and Nurse Carla Lasseter.

Dear Family Lee. I am very sad to hear of Frank's passing and I offer my sincere condolences. Frank, as an older member of the ARCVLSC when I joined W'64, had a positive impact on my life that I didn't realize at the time and Frank didn't know about until years later. So, 'Good on 'ya Frank and, God speed.'

I was lucky to share many rounds of golf with Frank and his long-time good friend and former ATF Agent John Rowden who Frank has now gone to join. Frank, a GREAT man, and kind friend will be truly missed. May God accept his soul and bring Peace and Comfort to his entire family.

I had the privilege of having Frank as my training agent when I arrived in Savannah in 1988. It was my first day in the office and Frank left to immediately come back and say the following ' unless youro sick or in court, if an agent asks for help you better help or I will make sure you are fired' I live by those words 25 years later. Frank was one of the best investigators I have had the honor to work with. I still remember his tiparillos. I know Frank and John Rowden will be playing some golf with their 'surveillance sticks' . Frank was old school and made sure he taught the younger agents well. To the Lee family you are in our thoughts and prayers in this most difficult of times.

Billy, Monique and family, my prayers are with you during this difficult time.

- Susan Price Whittle, Lexington, SC

- Aladino Ortiz, Mexico City,

We will miss our brother/brother-in-law Frank, but know that he is in a better place without pain. It was so important to us to spend time with him Wednesday and Thursday and be able to tell him how much we loved him and would miss him.

I thoroughly enjoyed knowing Frank through work and playing golf. We had much success with work and not much with golf. There were many people who thought highly of Frank with me being one of them. He will be missed. Paul Lucas

Going to miss my first cousin and that big smile of his. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his loving family

- Bill Perdue, Buford, GA

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. If there is a regret, it is that I spent so little time with a first cousin during our time together on this earth. I wish our lives had crossed paths so much more than they did. God Bless you and your family.

Pam, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I thank God for the privilege of knowing Frank and working with him. Frank was a very gifted person in his work and life. I look back to those days and cherish the times I spent with Frank Lee, John Rowden, Perry Boatright and Sonny Strickland. Those were some good times and I'm a better person for having known them. Go with God Frank and God Bless your Soul. You will surely be missed by all. F. Byron Stewart Retired ATTU/GBI Agent Dublin, Georgia
